Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Cookies Info Policy

COOKIES POLICY

  1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small file that is exchanged between the web browser and the web server. Cookies are stored on the (end) device of the website user. For example, these small files store basic information such as user preferences. The cookies are then sent back to the original website each time they visit. Cookies are useful because the website can use them to recognize the user’s browser or device over a period of time.

Most cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. This is a string that maps web pages and servers to the browser where the cookie is stored. This allows the web pages and servers to differentiate the browser from browsers to other cookies, and each browser can be identified by the unique cookie ID. This is solely for the unique identification of a web browser on a particular device and not for the identification of a person.

There are three categories of cookies:

  • absolutely necessary cookies to ensure basic functions of the website
  • functional cookies to ensure the performance of the website and
  • targeted cookies to enhance the user experience.
  1. How are cookies used for Aviation Services?

To use the Aviation service four types of cookies are used:

  • Session cookies (session): These are only temporarily stored during a browser session and deleted from your devices when the browser is closed.
  • Persistent cookies (Persistent): These are stored on your computer or device for a predefined amount of time, regardless of when the browser is closed.
  • First Party Cookies (First Party): These are set by the Aviation website and are only read by this website. (For example, if you receive cookies from our website, they can only be recognized by our website).
  • Third party cookies: These are not set by us, but by another organization, such as an analytics company that uses its own cookies to provide this service. Please note that third-party cookies are managed by the respective partners and service providers. For more information on the use of the information collected, please refer to the cookie policy of the relevant third party.
  1. Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies to help us better understand how you interact with the content on our website. In addition, these small text files can make your visit to our website easier as they remember your preferences as described above.

By using cookies we can count the visitors on a certain page of our website.

Another reason for the use of cookies is to offer you targeted content. Based on your behaviour, we may display targeted advertisements on third-party websites to re-offer you our products and services there.

  1. When do we use cookies?

We use cookies on our website (Aviation.co.za). Any browser that loads Aviation receives cookies from us.

You may decide at any time to refuse the use of our cookies or external third-party cookies by adjusting the cookie settings accordingly. The instructions for this can be found later in this policy.
